understanding islam

Islam from the literal meaning its means peace,security,safe,calm and purity.

Allah said:"O ye who believe! Enter Islam wholeheartedly; and follow not the footsteps of the evil one; for he is to you an avowed enemy" (Quran 2:208)

Islam is also meaning submission,surrender,obedience.

Allah said:"Do they seek for other than the religion of Allah/While all creatures in the heavens and on earth have,willing or unwilling,bowed to His Will(accepted Islam), and to Him shall they all be brought." (Quran 3:83)
the ayat means that men can only achieve true peace,security,safe,calm and enjoy lasting purity,here and hereafter; If he submit,surrenders and obeys all the injuctions of Allah and abstains from His prohibitions.

then the technical meaning of Islam is the religion revealed by Allah through His prophets from Adam till Muhammad saw and the final revealation was sent by Allah through the last prophet and it is comprehensive and final form of Allah message to mankind.

this has been stated by Allah in the Quranic verse (5:3)
"This day have i perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you,and have chosen for you Islam as your religion"

The characteristic of Islam as then comprehensive religion(Ad-Din) is divided into five major components which are Rabbaniyyah(Godliness), Insaniah(Humanity), Syumul(Comprehensiveness), Wasatiyyah(Moderation) and Thabat wa murunah(Combination of stability and flexibility).

What ever we do in this world whether studying,working or everything else the final goal is Allah because the final goal for each Muslim is to attained the love and pleasure of Allah the most Merciful.
